Catherine Stewart is a consultant based at the Auckland office and was admitted to the Bar in 1990. Catherine holds an arts degree and an honours degree in law. She advises clients in a wide range of employment law matters and has niche expertise in employment law in the education field. Her day-to-day advice ranges from drafting, to dealing with contentious matters, to strategy development. Catherine has extensive advocacy experience and has acted in several landmark employment law cases including the leading authority on workplace stress. She also acted as amicus curiae in a landmark case on freedom of association, good faith bargaining and undue influence.


Catherine also practices in general civil and commercial litigation. Her practice includes cases involving breach of contract, negligence and Fair Trading Act issues. She represents clients in the District Court, High Court, Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and Court of Appeal.  


Catherine has notable experience in presenting at seminars and has published articles on topical employment law matters. 


Prior to joining KTC Catherine was a partner of a major city law firm.
